Strange Diary

Release Year: 1976
Studio: TGA
Cast: Mara Dunn Mick Jones ... (as Mick Davis) Dashile Miguele Toni Scott Ken Scudder ... (as Ken S.) Joey Silvera ... (as Joseph Land) Desiree West
Genres: Adult
Video language: English

"Ordinary movie" would be a truthful title for Richard Wilton's Strange Diary, a loop carrier featuring vignettes of Frisco talent in action.

Sara and Anne are in bed interviewed by an off-camera guy about what they enjoy in sex. Director Wilton's films always seem to involve this semi-documentary approach.

We get to see them in lesbian action, as well as vignettes portraying what they discuss. First sex scene is staged in fancy dress for a foursome, looking like an excerpt from a feature film.

Second scene features a girl masturbating segueing to a threesome as the interviewer (Wilton?) warns the girls what kinky stuff he'll be having them do for the camera. The girls then have lesbian sex, joined by two guys including Mick Jones for some mixed combo action. Toni Scott is recognizable here by virtue of her patented frizzy hair look. She is generally silent during the interview sections. Notably the promised Golden Shower is omitted.

Desiree West shows up for lesbian mixed combo sex with our two heroines, employing a strap-on dildo. An orgy ensues with the gals covered in Crisco or whipped cream for some very sloppy action.

Film ends on what would have been considered a high note in the mid-'70s: the vocal interview girl gets it in the ass for promised anal sex and a money shot on her posterior - The End.

Naked Came the Stranger (1975)

Radio hosts and film fanatics Gillian (Darby Lloyd Rains) and William Blake (Levi Richards) enjoy a happy (albeit quirky) marriage, except for one catch- he's having an affair with Phyllis (Mary Stuart), their toothy assistant. Gillian even eavesdrops on one of their afternoon love sessions (one of the film's comic highlights), and afterwards at a bizarre costume party during which she meets several old acquaintances, the noble wife decides to do a little sexual sampling herself.

Each of Gillian's affairs appropriately divides the film like a book chapter, the most memorable being her encounter with Score's Gerald Grant which cleverly plays out like a silent film. Henry Paris regular Alan Marlow also turns up for a daring, real life sequence in which he's pleasured by Rains on a double decker bus as they take a sunny tour of New York. The story moves quickly, and while the sex scenes are probably the mildest of the Paris canon, they still generate some palpable heat. Rains in particular gets to finally break loose in a leading role and proves herself to be a delightful comedienne, often looking quizically at the camera for maximum effect.

In 1969, a torrid book called Naked Came the Stranger hit the bestseller charts and joined the ranks of tawdry potboilers from the likes of Harold Robbins and Sidney Sheldon. However, the difference here is that the entire book turned out to be a gag; the author, "Penelope Ashe," was a pseudonym concoted by a group of writers for Newsday who each took a turn writing one chapter. Flash forward six years, when veteran softcore director Radley Metzger was looking for a second project to follow up the original story, The Private Afternoons of Pamela Mann, which proved to be his first completely hardcore venture under the name "Henry Paris." Returning to the literary roots of his European erotica films, Metzger latched onto the novelized hoax and tweaked it into another of his urbane, visually stylish studies in the human libido. Fortunately it also turned out to be one of his funniest films, a bubbly and fast-paced trifle that plays like Ernst Lubitsch after a hit of rapture.

Neon Nights (1981)

Cast: Veronica Hart, Lysa Thatcher, Kandi Barbour, Arcadia Lake, Jody Maxwell, Linda Vale, Ashley Moore, Eric Edwards, Jack Teague, Jamie Gillis, Roy Stuart, Cecil Howard

Neon Nights sets a standard against which all other films must be judged. Cecil Howard (the man behind Firestorm, The Last X-Rated Movie, Platinum Paradise, Snake Eyes, Babylon Pink, etc.) has given us a hot hard-core odyssey into the phantasmagorical mind of a troubled girl. He illuminates the blue-movie screen with all the tour de make of erotic invention. In bed, bewitched and motionless, Sandy is levitated in a remarkable sensual special-effects sequence that must be experienced. The bizarre storytelling reaches its carnal climax with a steamy, Fellini-esque orgy in which flashing lights, billowing smoke, and blissful faces all merge in a veritable celluloid bacchanal in which she gets thoroughly ravished. Visually there has never been an X-rated film like Neon Nights.
